Holiday Cheer

The Hegwood's had a wonderful Christmas. We spend a week in WI, with Chad's family and catching up with most of our friends. Our trip to Chicago and our evening with the Malayter's were canceled due to bad weather...we were mad at mother nature, but except the face we live in the Great White North. When we returned to MN we spend Monday my family which was wonderful! Now we need a few days to relax.

Order in the court...

There could be future lawyers (Judges) in the Hegwood family! We went to the Federal building today to see where Uncle John works...kids had a great time in the court room and playing with all the ladies in the office.

I had a minor problem with my drain...Chad was at the University...I had lunch guests on their way over...and dinner guests coming later that evening. There was no time for a plumber, so I took matters into my own hands. The drain is fixed. Enough said.
(Who ever said they didn't need a roasting pan?)

Plymouth Fire Station No. 3

The highlight of last weekend was the afternoon trip to the fire station. The boys and I enjoyed a beautiful Minnesota Saturday (34 degrees) with our friends the Etzels...checking out the fire trucks, spraying the fire house and eating hot dogs. I've enjoyed reconnecting with my childhood friend Susie (Etzel) and getting to know her kiddos...we've been inseparable...not much different than when we were younger!

We don't have much to report from MN other than a couple inches of snow this weekend, Chad and I had a date night Saturday (we found a new wonderful Sushi restaurant), the boys have snotty noses which will last until April, the dogs are well and LOVED the snow, Chad is crazy busy and I luckily found out today that I don't have a stress fracture in my foot. My bone scan was clean so the Dr. thinks I have small tissue trauma (as he called it.) If the cortisone doesn't relieve the pain and inflammation within the next month then we are on to a cast and crutches. Keep your fingers crossed that that doesn't happen!Jackson LOVED spraying the fire house. He was very focused.

Catch Up...

I wasn't sure how to title this post...it could have been many things...Our Anniversary or The First Bug of the Season or The Puppies or Boys will be Boys...etc. We've been busy the past two weeks. Chad and I celebrated our sixth anniversary. We had dinner just the two of us at a new sushi restaurant in downtown Wayzata and a cocktail at Redstone with my parents and the Lidskys. I think we were home by eight because Chad had to study. We had a great time and after six years I would marry this man all over again! He continues to do well in school. He's not home very much, but his hours at the library are paying off. He did a GREAT job on his midterms last week.

The boys are great (we had our first bug of the season last week, fevers and diarrhea.) Full of life, laughter and mischief. They are developing the sweetest bond and are really starting to play well with each other (they are also great at "bugging" each other too.) Charlie is talking more and more everyday. Jackson continues to talk a ton (not sure where he got that?) and has the most incredible imagination. Here are a few of the latest Jacksonisms:

"Mommy, Afghanistan is all locked up...that's why Uncle Ryan can't come home until Christmas."

"When I grow up I'm going to be a recycle driver, no a garbage man, no a baker mom like you (I was making breakfast), no I think a Marine like Uncle Ryan and only a fighter fighter (Fireman) on Halloween."

We were at Church last week for dinner and one of the ladies pouring drinks asked me what I wanted and Jackson replied," decass (decalf) banilla latte."

They both have me laughing ALL the time!

Charlie LOVES my sisters' puppies Lula and Ries.
His shorts were up higher, but when he got ready to jump they fell down. He told me he was being a "diver man."
My brother-in-law Ryan wanted to see a picture of the boys next to each other, so he could see how big they are...he hasn't seen them since April. When he gets back from Afghanistan in December it will have been eight months...quit a change.

Last but not least...The Puppies. Lula spends a couple afternoons at our house as my sister Jill works full time and is in the part-time MBA program at the U of MN. (John well he works full time and has a busy social schedule.) I'm the official Doggy Daycare. The payback is great...Jill and John will be taking care of my kids and dogs when Chad and I go to Iowa City for the weekend in November. We love having her around and it's great for her to be with the kids and other dogs. Often times when we have Lula, Ellen will join us with Ries so the puppies can play. Its a crowd, but we love it. Miller has also found her favorite spot in the new house...right in the kitchen, close to the food and she can look out the front window.

I hope you are all well and staying warm now that fall is upon us in MN. I did have to turn the heat on today. The house was 54 degrees this morning when we woke up...fine for me and Chad but a bit chilly for the boys. Next week we are off to the apple orchard. I will be sure to post pictures.

Wedding and a Haircut

The boys and I had a wonderful weekend in WI. Jackson and Charlie loved seeing their grandparents and spending time with extended family. Chad and I also enjoyed spending time with family and sharing a wonderful day with our friends Laura and Zac as they "tied the knot." (I also cut off six inches of hair on Saturday morning...I love it!)

Mr. Pickle...

is the newest member of our family. I was totally "suckered," by a three year old, into buying Mr. Pickle. He is pretty cute and it was fun listening to Jackson come up with a name for his new pet.

It's only fair I dedicate a blog post to my fabulous brother-in-law John (because I already did one for Ryan.) Really there isn't enough time or space on this post to list all the reasons why he is just a GREAT guy! I love him dearly, my family loves him dearly and we love him most because he married Jill, for those of you that don't know her well...well let's just say my dad said, "no backs, no returns and no refunds. (We love you too Jill!) We surprised him last Thursday, for his birthday, at a restaurant in Minneapolis. We enjoyed wonderful food, drinks, desserts and laughs that made our sides hurt! Cheers to a wonderful man, brother-in-law, son-in-law, son, brother, husband and friend...I wish you many many more!
